Nightwinds Tack Shop offers numerous services so that our customers can spend more time riding and training.

We have an active consignment program for buying and selling used saddles, making it possible to find a variety of saddles in everybody's price range.

We are certified saddle fitters! Whether you're looking to buy a saddle or need advice on the fit of your current saddle, we can help. There are many points to consider to get a great fit for your horse...AND you. Call or stop by the store to make an appointment.

Our tack trailer hits the road in early spring to bring a complete selection of tack, clothing, and grooming supplies to many of the regional horse shows.

Saddle Fitting

Fitting saddles is like fitting a child's shoe: it needs to be done correctly to allow for movement without pinching or pain. A horse's back changes shape with age, fitness level, and weight. If you are noticing discomfort or changes in your horse's attitude or behavior under saddle, then it may be time for a professional assessment of how your saddle is fitting.

We will perform all the necessary steps on both sides of your horse (most horses are asymmetrical) and with the saddle in direct contact with your horse's back (no pad). These are the points we'll be considering:

• Saddle position
• Level seat
• Pommel to cantle relationship
• Clearance under the pommel
• Angle of the tree
• Panel contact and pressure
• Channel clearance
• Saddle length
• Horse's response
